"I took a look at the heating costs for the Desert Star
Cinema in Lake Delton and the Star Cinema in Johnson Creek,
WI. The results were very interesting. Since the theaters
use different utilities, I looked at therms instead of dollars.
Johnson Creek used 5,938 therms and Desert Star used 3,229
therms for essentially the same time period. The heating systems
are very similar. The numbers show that Desert Star used 46%
less energy than did our other theater. The use of your system
(commercial block) instead of CMU is the primary difference
in construction."

"For the construction of the Cineplex Odeon Theater
... we felt it a great advantage to use your system as one
of our major subcontractors for the job. There were several
advantages in using the block system verses other typical
building materials.
For sound insulating purposes of the demising walls on the
interior of the building your block was used with only one
layer of sheetrock on either side of the wall. If we had
not used your system, we would have been required to install
three layers of sheetrock. This method would have been more
time consuming due to the labor required to install sheetrock
in an area with sloped floors and stadium seating.
By using your block on the exterior of the building. We
were able to be creative with an elaborate dryvit system
using columns and crown molding. This was pleasing to us
as with ordinary CMU construction we could not have obtained
the "theatrical exterior" that we desired and
were able to create by using your block."

As we discussed with you in the past, we were pleased how
quick and easy your concrete insulated form system went
up on the Thanksgiving Theater project. The contractor on
the project said he figured he could not have made the deadline
using reinforced masonry walls. We are looking forward to
seeing how quick the Coral Cliffs Theater project goes in
comparison using your new 16 inch high units verses the
12 inch high units that were used on Thanksgiving Point.
We found the commercial block system easy to use and design
with. We tell people that it is just like designing a concrete
wall where the forms are left on instead of being removed.
One nice thing about the commercial block system is that
the commercial block acts as insulation during the construction
process. This saves cost during winter construction.
We watched in passing a retail building in Centerville that
we were not involved in the design being constructed with
commercial block. It appeared to go up faster than masonry.
It doesn’t have an exterior masonry look, but the
stucco exterior finish looks good.
We feel that commercial block is an economical system that
is a good option to reinforced masonry.

"I just thought I would let you know how happy I am
with the block that was used on our building in Layton.
It is very sound proof and tight and seems to be saving
us quite a bit on our utility bills. I think I mentioned
to you that our store in Ogden is almost identical in size
to our new Layton store, however the utility bills are approximately
half of the ones at our Ogden store. I know there are some
other factors involved, but I attribute a great deal of
the savings to the block material."
Thanks for your help with our project.

Naylor Wentworth Lund Architects
As we have previously discussed, Naylor Wentworth Lund Architects
have used your Commercial Block Systems for two projects.
Both the Thanksgiving Point Stadium-8 and the current Coral
Cliffs Cinema-8 were designed with the Commercial Block for
the exterior perimeter walls and the Thanksgiving Point project
utilized the same product for interior theater common walls.
We have found this product easier to work with and add detail
than concrete masonry unit construction. The form dimensions
are more flexible and openings can be placed more freely without
regard to a masonry module. Energy code requirements have
easily been achieved without having the added cost of a furred
and insulated stud wall. Both of these projects were under
extremely tight construction schedules which could not have
been met without the speed achieved using the Commercial Block
product.
If anyone is considering use of the Commercial Block System,
they will find the ease of construction detailing and layout
easier and more flexible than that of conventional CMU construction.

I want to write you a testimonial letter to
let you know how happy we are with the performance of your
bloc on the Coral Cliffs Cinema in Hurricane, Utah. This
is our first project with your block and we were a little
nervous going into the project, having never used your block
before.
Speed was one of the biggest factors in choosing your block.
We were under a very tight schedule on the building and
your block is one of the reasons we opened for business
as quickly as we did. We started more than 2 months behind
a theatre being built with a competitor system about 15
miles from us, and we opened for business 2 weeks ago. Their
project is still under construction. Not only did the Commercial
Block speed up the schedule, but also the contractor did
a great job keeping the walls straight. They are very happy
with the block also.
We have only been in the building for a short time, but
it seems to control the temperature very well. We should
see a very good energy savings by using your system.
We are very happy that we used your block system and would
use it again with no questions. In fact I would highly recommend
it to anyone that is looking at similar types of buildings.
Sincerely,
